Are you Broken? Are you in need of Deliverance? All of us go through difficult times and hardships in our lives, and we find ourselves in great distress, and we find ourselves in great pain physically and spiritually, wondering if God understands or even if he hears us. He does understand, and he does hear us and He cares deeply enough to rescue us from our painful state. He loves us and cares enough to comfort us when we hurt, he will let us know when he is there, he has a way of comforting us.
If you look up “comfort” in the dictionary, you will find one meaning of the
word, but if you look in the 14th chapter of John, you will discover quite a
different definition. In verse 16 (KJV), Jesus describes the work and ministry
of the Holy Spirit and calls Him “the Comforter,” which means “the one who
comes to stand by our side—the one who comes to our aid.”
As a believer we have a Comforter residing on the inside, we do not have
to search around us for comfort, looking for that earthly comfort when we have that spiritual comfort. We do not have to look to drinks, drugs or other distractions and sinful pleasures in order to escape our heartaches and
trials. We have the source of all comfort dwelling within us who will comfort us spiritually and when we are comforted spiritually then our flesh is comforted.
This means that when we are almost dying on the inside and crying out to God,
“I cannot handle any more!” we can expect to sense a little, soft
whisper that encourages us: “You are going to make it because I am here, I am not going no where.” When you
discern the God-breathed comfort of the Holy Spirit, the One who stands by
your side no matter what pain, sadness or difficulty you are facing it is worth more
than anything this world has to offer and his name is Jesus.
2Co 12:9 And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my
weaknesses, that the power of Christ may overshadow me.
